Product Description

Use the waste gas canister for the absorption of organic anaesthetic gases e.g. halothane and isoflurane. This method is not suitable for use with nitrous oxide because it is not absorbed by the charcoal. The weight of the canister must be monitored so that it can be replaced before it becomes saturated, once saturated any waste gases will simply be exhausted into the working environment.

Connected directly to the scavenging tubing from the patient circuit expiratory (scavenge) valve

Monitoring and Disposal of Waste Anaesthetic Canisters

· When a new canister is placed, a baseline weight and date must be documented on the canister.

· Canisters must be weighed at a frequency that ensures they do not exceed the maximum increase allowed. For a Floline canister, a 185 gm increase typically occurs after approximately 18 hours of use.

· If the canister weight exceeds manufacturer’s recommended capacity (typically 185 gm more than the initial baseline weight for the larger 1200 gm canister), the canister will not perform optimally and must be replaced.

· If a canister no longer gains weight or loses weight (relative humidity fluctuations can cause this), the canister should be replaced.

· Anaesthetic waste canisters or charcoal should be bagged (to prevent off gassing), labelled as hazardous waste & disposed of appropriately.

RETURNS

We are not required to provide a refund or replacement if you change your mind, but you can choose a refund or exchange if an item has a major problem.
This is when the item:

  • has a problem that would have stopped someone from buying the item if they had known about it
  • is unsafe
  • is significantly different from the descriptiondoesn’t do what we said it would, or what you asked for and can’t be easily fixed.
Alternatively, you can choose to keep the item and we will compensate you for any drop in value.

If the problem is not major, we will repair the item within a reasonable time. If it is not repaired in a reasonable time you can choose a refund or replacement.
