Pluritex surgical drapes (Class 1: noninvasive devices) are especially developed for the demanding end-use conditions in the High-Performance area, which need to comply with the liquid barrier requirements of the European norm EN 13795.

Our multiple use OR textiles full-fill and outperform the criteria set in this norm and strongly contribute to an effective infection prophylaxis in the OR. OR drapes provide an effective barrier against bacteria penetration and viruses. The drapes performances are based on test methodologies of > 200 mbar against all liquids such as blood, iodine and disinfectants which are more likely to be encountered in the operating room. They are liquid-proof and have a water vapor transmission resistance.

Permanent high-performance

Due to the fact that multiple use textiles are used over a long product life cycle, all fabrics do have a quality in new condition which is much above the requirements defined in the EN 13795. The high-quality laminates and microfilaments of the fabrics full-fill all requirements of the modern surgery with regards to norm conformity, safety, hygiene, handling and comfort. The fabrics used for surgical drapes manufacturing are constantly tested under chemical/ physical/ microbiological properties, in order to suit best to the law requirements:

•barrier and integrity against penetration to pathogenic microorganisms and viruses.

•impermeability to liquids (blood, secretions, disinfectants).

•highly absorbent.

•antistatic.

•lint free.

•comfort and breathability.

•dimensional stability, abrasion resistance, tensile strength at break.

•eco-friendly, ie a low environmental impact.

•flame retardant.

Comfort and functionality

As far as wearer comfort is concerned, the textiles are manufactured with a highly breathable ePTFE membrane, thus the performance of the wearer under stressed climate and working environment are improved, and the heat stress of the OR staff is reduced. The 3-layer ePTFE membrane of the laminate offers thermal insulation for the patient and avoids that the patient’s body can cool down also in case of long and extensive surgeries

ECO- friendliness

Reusable surgical textiles are friendly on the environment since they can be reprocessed and reused many times. At their end-of-life cycle they can be downgraded for continuance as an alternate use product. Studies have shown that it takes over 400 years for TNT to decompose.
